Journaling and scrapbooking are not anything new, but they have been revived and revitalized to fit the needs of the current generation. There is so much going on in the world and it can get overwhelming pretty quick. Journaling can help cope and sort through your thoughts and feelings. If you’re not much of a writer, that is okay! You can try out scrapbooking/junk journaling. Depending on which direction you choose to take it in, scrapbooking is a great way to preserve mementos and have physical media (photos) right in your hands without relying on iCloud or Instagram.

Journaling
All you need to get started is a pen and paper. It doesn’t have to be the nicest/fanciest stationery. Whatever works best for you and is something you’re comfortable with and won’t blow your budget. It’s up to you what you want to write. Here are some ideas to get you started:
- A quick bio about yourself, name, age, what you’re currently doing with your life, your interests, likes/dislikes, etc.
- Vent about something that is bothering you/weighing heavy on your mind.
- Look up journal prompts on Pinterest
- Something that made you smile
You can write whatever you want! The journal is for you, and it’s up to you how personal you want to get.

Scrapbooking/Junk Journaling
For those of you who don’t want to write as much/at all, you can always try scrapbooking/junk journaling instead. It allows you to be more hands-on and crafty. You can get crazy with it! Ideas to help you start:
- An event you went to (concert, picnic, club, etc.)
- New favorite album
- A photo collage
- Favorite TV shows/movies
- Decorate an old photo of yourself
You can make your spread as messy and hectic or neat and organized as you prefer. You can use scraps from your day-to-day life to decorate (receipts, product packaging, pamphlets/brochures) and slap it into your journal however you see fit.
